Step-by-Step: How to Operate a Bulk Water Fill Station
While details vary by site, the basic process at the Lake Zurich's FS-43 station looks like this:
- Arrive and position your vehicle
- Pull up so your tank inlet lines up with the station's hose and connection.
- Connect your hose
- Attach your hose to the station's cam-lock fitting (a 2" connection).
- Make sure the connection is secure and that the hose is properly supported.
- Log in at the access terminal
- Enter your unique account number and PIN.
- Customer accounts are created in advance by the station administrator.
- Enter the volume you want
- Key in the number of gallons you wish to dispense.
- Confirm that your hose is connected and your valves on the truck side are open.
- Start the fill
- Press the start button
- The station opens the control valve and begins metering water into your tank.
- A display shows the live flow and total volume dispensed.
- Monitor the fill
- You may select 'Stop' once to pause water flow or end transaction prior to receiving total requested volume. Selecting 'Start' will restart flow.
- Stay with your vehicle or stand next to the station, never leave the hose unattended.
- Watch both the station display and your tank level.
- Automatic stop and receipt
- The station automatically shuts off when the requested volume is reached or if an error is detected.
- Depending on configuration, you may be able to receive an emailed and/or downloaded receipt for transaction record.
This process makes fills repeatable and predictable, which is especially important for contractors managing multiple trucks and jobs.
